Week 2, Day 2

So this day turned out to be a little more exciting than I thought it would be based on the schedule.  Our construction guy, K, showed up around 7:30 and got to work doing some framing and banging and general noise making (so sorry to my coworker who had to hear it in the background during our call!)  After lunch I headed to the gym and when I got home there was a large truck in the driveway: the tankless hot water heater was being installed.  Then at some point in the afternoon the new kitchen window was delivered.  K was kind enough to cut open the box so I could grab some pics of it pre-installation (which happens on Thursday.)  So without further adieu, here are some new pictures.

The beginning of the window changes are starting to take place.  You can see a bit of the hardy plank has been removed in prep for the window opening changing.
The Mister is standing next to the new window for a size comparison.  We are both very excited for the additional light this will bring into the kitchen and having the window start at counter height.

The vent is installed in the crawl space for the new tankless hot water heater.  We went with this model from Rinnai to ensure we never go without hot water again.  There is a tankless on our rental property and when I lived there it was one of my favorite features, so we are looking forward to this being hooked up in the next week or so for our use.
Using the headlamp my parents got me for my birthday and prepped to head into the crawl space to take a look at our new technology!
I let The Mister go first so he can make sure there are no monsters down in the bowels of the house.
Hello lovely...I look forward to putting you to good use!
A view from afar.  It really is crazy how great the tankless hot water heaters work when they are so small in comparison.
While in the crawlspace, the piping was also installed for the new gas range that will be in the kitchen.
And this is where the new range will go.  It's fun seeing little progress like this because it gives a definite sense of spacing for the new areas of the kitchen.
The framework for the window is starting to take place.  It's quite funny for us to look at it this way because the new window sits lower which makes it seem smaller in this picture.  But we know that the height is approximately the same and the width is a foot wider.

Updated header shots for the new framework between the living room and the kitchen.

One thing we learned on this date is that there is existing duct-work and piping in the kitchen ceiling that is where some future duct-work was planned to reside. So we quickly went back to the drawing board and will be adding a new architectural element to the kitchen to address this issue.  I will share more about this as it takes shape. (<-- hint, hint)
