As we sat down tonight to discuss the work that is happening on the kitchen it's funny because we realized that in the coming weeks there will be days that have some big changes (sheetrock, paint, cabinets!!!!) and then there will be days where the change are minimal, especially as we try to communicate them over a blog. But we'll try, and you can just shake your head and skip that day. :-) Today was a low on big changes, but high on exciting news for the timeline as it relates to certain aspects we are excited about in the overall changes for the house. And because I hate the whole "save the best for last" I'll just go ahead and say that we received the news that the new tankless hot water heater will be live and in use beginning on Wednesday. WOOHOO!!!! Now for the changes that happened in the kitchen on this date.
The soffit is now framed in. And hopefully these pictures will help describe a little more why the soffit was required and what it's purpose is in making everything work as designed.
So now we know how big the footprint will be for the island that sits under the new soffit. There is also visual evidence of where the new can lights will be in this space.
The above and left view shows the new turn the hood vent will take to bypass the existing duct work for the HVAC unit.
